The evolution of communication has shaped our country and the world. Communication used to be a lot more difficult even in more recent years, the method of communication is continuously developing. Now a days people are meeting each other in VR to have business conversations due to it being far more convenient and time saving. Communication had its biggest impact in 1838 with the first electric telegraph which finally made it possible to communicate faster than physical travel. This was performed with radio waves through morse code which made it possible to communicate text to another party. This is a form of digital communication because you have the ability to count the number of dashes and dots to form letters and words. Analog telephone would not be possible because you are unable to count anything, meaning you are unable to have something represent a letter. The wide world postal speeds in 1852 were so slow it almost made communication irrelevant in some parts of the world. A letter sent from London would take 73 days to reach Sydney Australia. This invention of Morse code helped further communication efforts between other countries and the US. This method allowed for communication between two different countries to be distraught similar to the child’s game “telephone”.
In my life I have watched how communication has continued to develop from wall phones to pagers to mobile phones. Calling has developed as well where people are able to “face time” their friends and have a conversation while being able to see the other person’s face. Unfortunately, I believe that communication is going down a dark path where people now can use other people’s voices and faces to communicate messages. This will be a problem in the future as technology develops and people are unable to trust the things they are watching.
